Embracing The Tapestry of Our Lives

Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards” .... Soren Kierkegaard

How can we find the courage to stop drifting through our life, unconsciously letting other people or negative situations dictate the course of our journey? What if we listen to our inner guidance, stop making excuses or blaming others for our pain, and begin to take personal responsibility for whatever is showing up in our life?

We all have our own life stories. Everything we have encountered up until now, our losses, health challenges, bad relationships, loss of a loved one, as well as our joyful experiences, marriage, the birth of our children, triumphs, and successes, were beautifully woven into the fabric of our lives, whether we like those experiences or not. As our challenges unfold in real-time, we can’t seem to find the meaning

behind them. We’re caught up in the fear of losing control of our life and it feels scary. We’re not paying attention to the significance of each heartache, misfortune or health struggle, and the role it plays in building a solid infrastructure of inner strength, character, and faith in our own abilities. Just like the backside of a tapestry, while we’re moving through our struggles, nothing seems to make sense. It is not until we flip it over and see the intricate colors, patterns, and texture that create a magnificent work of art.

Our journey is the same way. The course of our life will change based on how we choose to deal with our challenges. We either choose peace or pain OR love or fear.

When we finally wake up to find the courage to be ourselves and own our story, instead of hiding from it, we can begin to celebrate it.
